Well then... it's safe to say that 2020 hasn't turned out the way we had expected it to! With a UK tour and any hope for live performances largely in the toilet with the introduction of lockdown, we found ourselves at a loss. Our latest single 'Darling' was released a week prior to Mr Johnson's statement telling all UK citizens to stay at home. Much to our great frustration, we felt that the song would struggle to reach as many people in absence of our energetic and passionate live show. However, Crying Beauty Queens have not been idle. Along with rigorous and relentless online promotion for 'Darling', we have also used this time to step back from what we have created to look objectively at what inspires us to do what we do. As a result of this, we have also been hit by a wave of creativity leading to a batch of songs that we feel represent the band in its current state in the most authentic way possible.
Furthermore, we have developed our image and thought about the evolution of our live shows to enhance our gigs and make them a more intense and cathartic experience for both performer and audience. This means less polish and more noise. Upon the release of our next single and with the reintroduction of gigs, the audience will see a developed Crying Beauty Queens - a louder, bolder and more intense Crying Beauty Queens that emphasises the beauty in our music as well as the darkness and ugliness that exists respectively. We couldn't be more excited!
Stay safe, wear a face mask and stay tuned.
Sincerely, P.W. Murphy
