Crying Beauty Queens are an atmospheric alternative rock band hailing from Manchester. Jordan Price (guitar and vocals), Alex Hurlstone (bass) and Paddy Murphy (drums) bring together influences from Pixies, The Cranberries, LCD Soundsystem and The Beatles to put forward their brand of lyrically stimulating, dynamic and punchy rock music.
Having originally met at a music summer-school course in Manchester in 2014, they instantly connected, and a few on-and-off projects in the ensuing years paved the way for this new band. The name draws attention to the millenial era the band have grown up in and pokes fun at those who are more inclined to complain than to try and make a change - an attitude unfamiliar to the group.
Evolving and changing, the band have always been out to push themselves - live, and in the studio. Their new single 'Darling' - available on all major music platforms - adds yet another sound to their roster, hailing back to anthems such as 'Zombie' by The Cranberries with a chorus fit for a stadium, lush guitar lines and a driving wall of bass and drums.
A good festival circuit and some exciting plans for the summer see the band set for a brilliant 2020... and they couldn't be more excited!
- "Here's a band whose appeal lies in their deft undertanding of contrasts, blending the visceral and the genteel to create a unique sound of their own." - David Sue, Manchester Evening News.
